Castle creator Andrew Marlowe has promised more fun, lighthearted storytelling in Season 5, but that doesn't mean it's smooth sailing here on out for Rick Castle and his detective muse.

According to TVLine, Kate Beckett will find an adversary in a new character — a "well-liked U.S. Senator" played by Heroes' star Jack Coleman.

No word yet on if he's connected to the unsolved murder of Johanna Beckett, but we wouldn't be too surprised. Earlier this month, we learned of two new characters — Senator Randall Stinson and Vice President Russell — both of whom “figure into the conspiracy surrounding Beckett’s mother’s murder.”

Is it just us, or are you finding it harder and harder to believe this case will be closed by the end of the Season 5 premiere?
