How do we love thee, Caskett? Let us count the ways — literally.

Last night’s Castle, Season 4, Episode 16, “Linchpin,” was brimming with adorable — and some, well, not-so-adorable — moments between the cutie crime writer and his muse. Guess almost kicking the bucket together so often really does make a couple grow stronger.

4. Castle Saves Beckett’s Life

Castle risked his life searching for Beckett’s gun, but in the end he was able to grab onto the bad boy and shoot through the car glass, saving the day. Where would she be without him? (Oh, right. Dead.)

Anyway, we almost must mention that the look on Beckett’s face when she thinks Castle might be a goner is all the proof we need that she totally returns his love. But BTW Becks, Castle’s totally beating you now.

3. Beckett Defends Castle

After she picks them up at the dock, Sophia Turner is not pleased with her two cohorts. Beckett, however, defends her "writer boy" partner, saying the only reason he kept Sophia out of the loop on the Blakely lead was because it was such a long shot, and he didn’t want to bother her.

True or not, we thought it was rather cute Beckett defended Castle’s debauchery.

2. “If You’re Stupid Enough to Keep Going, I’m Stupid Enough to Go With You”

Castle proves his loyalty to the brunette beauty when he offers to continue helping her solve the Gage case, even though Sophia gave them strict orders to back off.

“If you’re stupid enough to keep going, I’m stupid enough to go with you,” he says. And really, doesn’t that say it all?

1. Castle Compliments Beckett to Near-Tears

In the ep’s final moments, Castle and Beckett share a sweet, sweet little blip in time.

When Beckett asks Castle if he’s upset Sophia turned out to be a traitor — espesh cause he based his infamous, bad-ass lady cop character Clara Strike on her — Castle counters with the best compliment we’ve ever heard.

“Clara started off like Sophia, but she ended up more like you,” he starts. “You know; smart, fierce, kind. I think that’s one of the reasons I was drawn to you — as a muse.”

Right. As a muse.

And with that, the adorable twosome saunter off as Beckett playfully bumps Castle’s shoulder. All that’s missing is a little squeeze of each other’s hands, really.
