It won’t be long until Castle hits the air again, and Beckett may be getting out of the hospital just in time to compete for Castle’s attention with a new rival — a beautiful art theft investigator played by The Killing star Kristin Lehman.
In this exclusive Wetpaint Entertainment e-mail interview, Kristin tells us about working with Nathan Fillion again after their 2007 series Drive, the tension between her character and Beckett (Stana Katic), and just how up close and personal Richard Castle will get with the new girl!
Wetpaint Entertainment: What was it like working with Nathan again?
Kristin Lehman: Nathan is one of my favorite co-stars I've ever had the pleasure of working with. On Drive, I felt like I’d been sent a gift because it had been a long time since I'd worked with a male co-star so closely who was so committed to doing good work, and was intelligent and really funny. Since we spent almost every scene together it was truly a joy.
Castle and Beckett look like they're getting their facts straight in Episode 3.22, "To Love and Die in L.A."
Having the opportunity to work with him again on Castle was really a lovely little treat. I jumped at the chance because I also consider him a friend.
Were you a Castle fan before you landed the role, or did you have to study up on it in a jiffy?
I don't actually have a television even though I work in television!! So I quickly brushed up on Castle when I was offered the role!
What do you like best about the show?
I really, really enjoy the light-hearted energy in the writing on this show. The actors have really great comedic chops and the writing really lets them shine as well as tell the story.
Will your character will have tension with Beckett ?
There's definitely some tension in our storyline but I'm not so sure my character feels it as strongly as Beckett does, after all she's secretly in love with [Castle] and I'm only meeting him for the first time.
Do you know if you have any steamy scenes with Nathan coming up?
I know of no steamy scenes with Mr. Fillion, but a girl can dream, can't she?
All the guys are notorious pranksters. Are you ready for them?
They are pranksters and I'm semi-ready for them!!
The Castle team is a really tight-knit family. Have they been making you feel welcome?
The actors and crew have all made me feel very welcome and have opened their show to me really kindly and with ease. It's really a pleasure to be here
Are you a technophile like Nathan?
Nope — not a technophile, but any time I see Nathan I get tutorials!!!
