Does the fact that Captain Roy Montgomery’s wife and daughter are being cast mean that the Captain is the one who’s doomed to perish in the Castle Season 3 finale? Or does it just mean that Ruben Santiago-Hudson is finally getting his wish? When Wetpaint interviewed Hudson a couple weeks back we asked him if we’d ever get to meet Montgomery’s family. “That would be beautiful, man,” he told us exclusively. “You know, that is what we don’t see in African-American characters on television. We don’t see that part of them that shows anything other than anger or authority. We rarely have an opportunity to see humanity. And that’s the thing I try to bring to each character I play.”

So maybe we’re in for a more human Captain Montgomery next season. But if his wife and daughter really are being brought in to mourn his loss, that doesn’t mean Castle has seen the last of Hudson. He also told us, “I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished in three years, and I could definitely add more to the show. I would love to direct or write, and I look forward to that maybe happening one day. You never know.”
