There's nothing we'd love more than to see Nathan Fillion reprise his role as Captain Hammer in a Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog sequel, and according to a new report from Variety, we might just get our wish.
The website caught up with Joss at a recent film screening in Beverly Hills, where he revealed that a Dr. Horrible follow-up could happen "within the next year." But honestly, we're not getting our hopes up, and here's why.
Joss is quite possibly the busiest man in Hollywood right now. Hot off the heels of his record-breaking Avengers, Cabin in the Woods, and Much Ado About Nothing success, the sci-fi mastermind was tapped to co-write and direct S.H.I.E.L.D., an upcoming pilot for ABC and Marvel TV. And if that weren't enough to keep him occupied, Joss will also be directing The Avengers 2, set for release in 2015.
Joss has been teasing fans with the possibility a Dr. Horrible sequel ever since the musical web series debuted in 2008, and although he has completed a few new songs, we're still waiting for the finished product over four years later.
"It's been hard, because we all have jobs, and some of them are extremely taxing," he told Yahoo Movies in November of last year.
Although right now probably isn't the best time for Joss to commit to another project — and to be clear, we in no way fault him for that — we find solace in the fact the both Nathan Fillion and co-star Neil Patrick Harris are game for a part duex (schedules permitting, of course).
"I would certainly be on board," NPH told the USA Today back in January, while Nathan Fillion revealed to CultureMob.com there's "absolutely a chance" he'd revisit the Dr. Horrible universe.
But will it happen in 2013? Most likely not (in our expert opinions), but we're willing to wait as long as it takes.
