Nathan Fillion took a brief break from filming Castle to collaborate with Firefly creator Joss Whedon, and we’ll finally get to see the fruits of their labor next summer.

After a festival circuit run, Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions bought Much Ado About Nothing, the modern retelling of William Shakespeare’s classic comedy, and according to a press release (via The Wrap), the film will be released on June 7, 2013!

The low-budget project was shot in just 12 days, and critics called Nathan’s portrayal of Dogberry “hilarious” and “charming,” and Joss even said he was “extraordinary.”

We can’t wait to see Nathan — and fellow Whedon-verse pals Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, Firefly co-star Sean Maher, and many more — in action next summer, but until then, we’ll just let our minds wander about the synopsis: “The story of sparring lovers Beatrice and Benedick offers a dark, sexy and occasionally absurd view of the intricate game that is love.”

Will you see Much Ado About Nothing? Tell us below!
