Comic-Con 2011 is on the horizon and it’s on every geek guy and girl’s mind, including Castle’s own resident nerd boy, Nathan Fillion (Richard Castle).

Fillion and the Castle crew will have their very own panel again at this year’s convention and speak to hundreds of anxious, amped up fans. While that sounds intimidating, Fillion assures The Hollywood Reporter that it’s actually a lot of fun.

“How many times do you get the chance to go up in front of a couple thousand people and be a rock star for a minute?” he says. But while it’s his job to entertain on stage, Fillion says when he meets fans, he appreciates when they don’t try to be funny or charming, but rather just honest.

“When someone says, ‘Take off your shirt,’ or ‘Show us your butt,’ that doesn’t say to me that this person really likes the work that I do and the stories I tell,” he says. “But the people who are sincere and gracious and say, ‘This meant a lot to me, and I appreciate what you’re doing.’ That’s great.”

If you were lucky enough to grab a ticket, Nathan has a few more tips for first-timers attending the event. Not only should you keep your compliments genuine, he suggests asking open-ended questions — oh, and, please, wipe off your sweaty palms before you shake an actor’s hand, for goodness sake.
