In Castle Season 4, Episode 3: "Head Case," Alexis comes face-to-face with defeat for the first time ever when she's rejected from her dream school, Stanford University.
We had a pretty bad feeling her decision letter would come in a small envelope, but what we didn't expect was her self-deprecating, downward shame spiral. Poor Alexis is really beating herself up over this.
While we can't deny how bad we feel for our favorite ginger-haired smarty pants, we can't help but think this needed to happen. It's an important coming-of-age moment for Alexis, who must learn to accept life's letdowns, pull herself up by the bootstraps, and keep pushing forward.
As a wise man once said, rejection is not failure — failure is giving up.
