Should Terri Miller Write More Castle Episodes in Season 5?
A few weeks ago, Terri Miller — the wife of Castle creator Andrew Marlowe and frequent writer for the crime procedural — broke our fangirl hearts when she revealed she would not be penning any episodes in Season 5.
"For those asking, at this point I don't plan to write Castle episodes this year," she revealed on Twitter on July 18. "I'm working on spanky new TV ideas w/ Andrew & a feature."
As most of you already know, Terri lent her linguistic talents to some of the most poignant and well-conceived Castle episodes to date — "A Rose for Everafter" in Season 2, and "Cuffed" and "Always" in Season 4, just to name a few.
What sets Terri's scripts apart is her unique female perspective in a traditionally male-dominated field. Don't get us wrong — we love Andrew Marlowe's writing to death, but there's something extra special and truly palpable about Terri's touch. She breathes a distinct life into Kate Beckett, one that softens her hardened exterior and makes happily ever after for once seem possible — which isn't all too surprising considering that in real life, Terri is to Andrew as Kate is to Rick.
And also not surprisingly, Andrew is as big a fan of Terri's work as we are. In fact, he's so keen on his wife returning to Castle this season that he's urging her to sit down and start typing.
"@AndrewWMarlowe is trying to talk me into writing another ep," she tweeted on August 14, "but I'm a tough nut to crack. #Castle."
A tough nut, perhaps, but hopefully not an impossible one. Our glass of hot chocolate is definitely half full.
