Castle returns on Monday, Nov. 12 with an episode that will change your perspective on the show — literally!
In "Swan Song," airing at 10 p.m. ET on ABC, we'll see our favorite characters through a shaky camera lens, as a crew of documentary filmmakers turns the cameras on Castle and Beckett! In this mockumentary-style episode, à la The Office, our team at the 12th precinct talks directly to the cameras — and consequently, into our souls — as they investigate the death of a musician named James Swan.
[Insert joke about James singing his swan song here.]
Thanks to a few sneak peek clips released by ABC, we know quite a bit about our victim, who missed a band meeting to go on a clandestine errand after visiting the bank. Was he itching for drugs? Maybe, maybe not.
What we do know for sure is that our handsome mystery writer/crime fighter, Rick Castle, really really loves himself the camera.
And he's not the only one! There's another member of the team who wants her 15 minutes of fame, and her name is not Kate Beckett. Oh, and Mr. Swan is totally clean. So clean, in fact, he has no antibodies for polio — which means he never got the vaccination as a kid. That can only mean one thing …
He was in a religious cult — no, really! — and his former cult leader is suspect numero uno.
So did he do it? According to Mr. Campbell, he was meditating at the time of James's murder, but Beckett's not buying it. "You wanted revenge, so you followed him to his trailer and you killed him in a fit of rage!" she screams. And thankfully, the cameras are there to capture every second of it.
Oh, and one more juicy tidbit — look out for a musical performance by the one and only Detective Esposito!
