Top 5 Most Adorkable Richard Castle Moments From Season 4, Episode 14: "The Blue Butterfly"

Castle suits up in Season 4, Episode 14.

Blame it on the private investigator’s diary, or the whiskey, or one wild imagination, but Richard Castle’s nerd flag was flying (super) high during Castle Season 4, Episode 14: “The Blue Butterfly.”

Here are the Top 5 Most Adorkable Castle moments from this week’s episode. Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

5. Castle Brings It Home

Castle first discovers the detective’s diary in connection to the murder victim, but as he begins to read the enthralling story inside, he — like an excited child — asks Beckett, “Can I take it home for the night?”

And before she can fully respond, he’s already half-skipping out the door with the book. Adorkable!

4. Ryan and Castle Get Worked Up

When Ryan and Castle peruse some old case files, both the boys get adorkably wrapped up in a statement that tells another (unfinished) snippet of the story of Joe and Vera and the very vengeful Sally Scoffield.

They’re left with so many unanswered questions they can’t stand it!

3. Freudian Slip-Up

While reading the romantic tale of Joe and Vera to Beckett, Castle accidentally slips up and calls Vera “Kate.” He tries to cover it up by claiming he said "fate" instead, but nobody — especially Beckett — is buying it. Come on, man.

2. Say It "Like a Leprechaun"

In his wildly rogue imagination, Castle pictures Detective Kevin Ryan as an Irish gangster. So it’s only right that in the present-day he repeatedly (and rather excitedly) keeps asking him to talk like one. Well, "like a leprechaun," to be exact.

1. “Why Am I Narrating?”

Castle pours himself a tall glass of alky before cracking open the PI journal (kind of reminiscent of the time Beckett left work early to pour herself a libation and read Heat Wave, no?) , and starts to narrate the Joe/Vera story.

But after a few scenes he comes back to reality and asks himself, quite seriously, “Why am I narrating?” We don’t know, but we like it!
