Though you might only know him as Rick Castle, Canuck Nathan Fillion has a full (and very sci-fi-oriented) career. Nathan starred as Captain Malcolm Reynolds in the short-lived Joss Whedon series Firefly, and later reprised the role in the 2005 feature film Serenity. He also appeared on the television shows One Life to Live; Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place; Buffy the Vampire Slayer; and Desperate Housewives. Nathan also had small roles in the feature films Blast from the Past and Saving Private Ryan. Yeah, we're trying to remember which soldier he played...
