As much as we’ve loathed Castle’s holiday hiatus, the tiny respite from our fave show has given us extra time to review the epic year that was (thank you, DVR!).

As 2011 draws to a close, we're taking a moment to look back on all the truly epic Castle episodes from the past 12 months.

So much happened! Lanie and Esposito became "Esplainie," Ryan and Jenny got engaged, Alexis was rejected from Stanford, Beckett almost died, and Castle finally told Kate he loves her. Whew. What a year!

We're still pretty bummed out that Castle was overlooked by both the Golden Globe Awards and the SAG Awards this year, but we've found some much-needed comfort from the online fan world.
