Game of Thrones Casts Joel Fry as Hizdahr zo Loraq
Game of Throness has added yet another character to what’s looking to be a very epic Season 4. British actor Joel Fry has joined the cast in the role of Hizdahr zo Loraq (say that five times fast), according to Entertainment Weekly.
Joel is known for his role in the film 10,000 B.C., and his character on Game of Thrones should play an important part in Dany’s story. He's described as a "young scion of an ancient Meereenese family who crosses paths with Daenerys Targaryen.” For more info, keep reading — but beware, there are some book spoilers ahead!

Assuming the show continues to follow the books, now that she has liberated the slave cities of Astapor and Yunkai, Dany will turn her attention toward the city of Mereen. Once she conquers Mereen, she decides to stay in the city. She declares herself queen after learning that Astapor fell into chaos soon after she left its walls. Once Dany becomes queen of Mereen, she has many suitors who wish to be her king, chief among them being Hizdahr zo Loraq.
In the A Song of Ice and Fire universe, Hizdahr is not introduced until the fifth book in the series, A Dance with Dragons. While it was previously assumed that Season 4 of GoT would be based largely on the second half of book three in the series, A Storm of Swords, this casting news implies that the show will move beyond that section of the series, at least for Dany's story.
Dany has a lot to do it the fifth book — which runs parallel, time wise, to the fourth book in the series, which Dany does not appear in — so it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the show could milk two or seasons’ worth of plot for her from that one tome. We’ll have to see how far they get next season.
