Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra Talk Past Drugs and Sex Life in Memoir
Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra's new book, Conquering Chaos, has officially hit shelves, and it's even more revelatory than fans suspected. In their joint-memoir, Tyler and Catelynn talk about life before Teen Mom, as well as their complicated relationship with drugs and sex.
Tyler's father, Butch Baltierra, abused drugs and alcohol, which led Tyler to “drinking, smoking weed and cigarettes and taking drugs by age eight.” He met Catelynn a few years later in middle school, and they began experimenting together — specifically with ecstasy and cough syrup.
“Basically, anything we could get our hands on to get high with, we’d do it,” Catelynn writes. “We never really drank much, funny enough. We did everything else we could get, huffin’, snorting pills, smoking weed, we were all about that stuff. But even our friends weren’t really drinking. Why drink when you can huff air duster?”
Catelynn and Tyler we sexually active at this time, and Tyler says they “did it all the time,” opting not to use condoms. “We would drink and party together and fool around constantly, all the time. Unfortunately, we were not being safe at all,” Tyler says. “We just didn’t feel like we had to.”
Tyler also talks about being molested by his sister's friend (which he first revealed on Twitter in 2013), an experience he feels shaped his attitude toward sex. “It made me think sex was something kids could do, which influenced me to act too sexual when I was too young,” Tyler writes, adding that he broke up with girlfriends because they were too prudish. “We were 10-year-olds! It's so messed up.”
