There are some bitter rivalries in the history of entertainment: Athens vs. Sparta, Auburn vs. Alabama, peanut butter vs. jelly… But as far as we’re concerned, there’s only one real rivalry that matters to us: The Bachelorette versus The Bachelor, and we’re about ready for a showdown. Thanks to Season 17’s Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici, and Season 9’s Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried, we’re finally going to get it.
Is double-dipping host Chris Harrison finally picking a side? Nah, but we have something better than that to pick a victor: a good old fashioned sportsball contest. SeanCat and Siegsock will be facing off in an epic battle of the turf, but it’s for a good cause. The United Way of King County is pitting the two pairs of rose-loving lovers against one another in a charity softball game next weekend.
The June 21 game is going to be super star-studded, with former Mariners players Dan Wilson and Jay Buhner captaining the teams, and local Seattle celebrities filling the benches. Former Seattle Supersonics players will also take their at-bats, but like we said, our eyes are on the Bachelor Nation prize. As far as we’re concerned, fans will pony up 15 bucks to buy tickets for the ultimate grudge match, since organizers put the pairs on separate clubs.
Will former professional baseball player Chris get to show off what he’s got? He did play for the Cubs organization, and still goes back to his University of Portland stomping grounds to toss the ball around for alumni games. Or will Sean come out on top thanks to his megawatt smile and footballer build and experience? The man could slam the ball out of the park if he gets a hold of one.
And what of the ladies? Desiree is in fine form these days and totally impressed Chris last year when they played catch on their Hometown Date. We’re not sure what Catherine’s background is, but she super-strengthened in anticipation of her January 26 wedding and certainly looks to be a worthy opponent.
While we’re hoping for a fun time on the field, there’s only one trophy and one rose up for grabs. Who do you think will nab it after the ninth inning?
