E!’s Catt Sadler Dishes on What to Expect on the Grammys Red Carpet — Exclusive

All due respect to the rest of the awards shows, but the Grammys are always the most exciting of the trophy-giving nights each season. And with the arrival of the 56th Annual Grammy Awards 2014 this Sunday (January 26), we can hardly wait to see what stops the celebs will pull — both on the red carpet and on stage.

Since this music-filled show is an entirely different beast from its red carpet siblings, Wetpaint Entertainment spoke exclusively with E! News anchor Catt Sadler to find out what we can expect from the big night — and who will steal the show.

Catt has worked E!'s Live From the Red Carpet for some time now, so she knows exactly what sets the Grammys apart from the rest: the flashiness.

“At the Grammys I don’t think you can really ever predict,” Catt tells us, adding, “This is the one awards show where it’s very costume-centric. It’s not necessarily designer or couture, it’s just very costume-y, and I think that’s the fun of it.”

When all of the biggest names in music are hitting the stage with show-stopping performances, the fashion needs to keep up. “It is the Grammys, and it’s a big stage show. That’s kind of what you get on the red carpet — and that’s why it’s so much fun.”

It’s true — just because the stars can wear high fashion, doesn’t mean they should, particularly on a night this wild. “I mean, Lady Gaga has access to the best designers in the world, but she’ll still be in a meat dress or she’ll be on a horse,” Catt emphasizes.

So while we might be able to predict the trends or looks at the Golden Globes or Oscars, Sunday night will likely be a free for all.

“Part of the fun about the Grammys is that anything goes,” she explains. “It kind of evokes this risk-taking out of the stars — for once they don’t feel like they have to fit into any particular box. So I don’t know that we’ll see any trends, but I think that we’ll be wowed.”

While Lady Gaga is probably a given for outlandish awards night fashion, who else can we expect to really bring it this year?Katy Perry is another one that is very whimsical and bright and fun with her choices,” Catt details, before going on to gush about her true fashion icon, Beyoncé:

“I’m always interested at every single red carpet if I know Beyoncé is coming. When I get dressed everyday, if I don’t know [what to wear] I ask myself ‘What would Beyoncé do?’ Beyoncé, I just love, love, love.” Don’t we all, girl!

Because Beyoncé is one of the night’s major performers (along with hubby Jay Z), we’ve got two chances to obsess over her look. And clearly Catt will be right there with us: “She is such a fashion icon and I just love to see what she does because she mixes it up every single time. So I really can’t wait to see her, not only on the red carpet, but to perform, as well.”

Catch the 56th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday January 26 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

And be sure to head over to check out Catt’s ProgressOh! Makeover Contest, which gives fans the chance to win an ultimate makeover experience in Los Angeles. Three fans will win a trip for two to L.A., complete with a makeover, roundtrip airfare, accommodations, a $1000 gift card and two tickets to a taping of E! Fashion Police.
