Cee Lo Green Is Leaving The Voice After Four Seasons!

Brace yourselves, The Voice fans. After four seasons of spinning around in a big red chair and coaching up-and-coming vocalists on TV, Cee Lo Green has decided to bow out of the hit reality competition show, per his announcement on Wednesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC. I have a television show development deal with them and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year,” Cee Lo told Ellen. “But yeah, I’m going to miss The Voice, too. I’m not coming back, guys.”

Ellen was as shocked as we were — probably because this means Purrfect and Lady The Cockatoo are officially dunzo, as well as any future exotic pets — and had to clarify that Cee Lo is gone for good.

“I’m not coming back at all,” Cee Lo reassured Ellen. “I just don’t want to wear out my welcome there, you know what I’m saying? I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven’t released an album in four years. I’m almost done with my album.”

Cee Lo has served as a mentor for Seasons 1-3, took a break in Season 4, and returned for Season 5. And while Ellen thought the “Forget You” singer was just taking a break for Season 6 — allowing Shakira and Usher to return to their spinny chairs — Cee Lo has prematurely put the last nail in his coffin.

“I didn’t mean to drop the bomb today,” he admitted.

Oh, Cee Lo. We’ll miss you.
