All families fight from time to time, but this is taking things to a whole other level. Rapper Young Jeezy turned himself over to authorities last Friday (January 3) for crimes of battery, false imprisonment, and making terrorist threats against — get this! — his own teenaged son.
Though the incident allegedly occurred all the way back in September 2012, it wasn’t until last week that a grand jury issued a warrant for each of these charges. According to documents, it all began when the Grammy-nominated musician (real name Jay Jenkins) got into a spat with his son in his bathroom.
In the charging documents obtained by TMZ, Jeezy’s son states that as the fight escalated, his father threw him into a glass shower door, and then dragged him into the bedroom and began punching him. When the teen tried to escape down the stairs, he was blocked by the rapper’s bodyguard.
The police paperwork says that his father then choked his son and said, “I will kill you.” He also claims that the rapper said, “I will put a bullet in your head right now," adding, "If I could get away with it, I would kill you."
All in all, pretty serious allegations. It makes you wonder what sort of fight a teen and his father could get into that would turn so violent. Young Jeezy posted a $45K bond and was released soon after.
"We have no doubt this matter will resolve itself appropriately,” Jeezy’s lawyer said in a statement. “At this moment, Mr. Jenkins is thankful for the support of his fans and the respect for his family's privacy."
