Don't drink and drive, kids. And please don't drive into stuff, then slink away — even when you're sober. It rarely ends well. #protip
According to TMZ, Svetlana Dreyfuss, wife of Oscar-winning actor Richard Dreyfuss, was arrested on June 2 in Encinitas, CA. She allegedly drove (under the influence) into a wooden fence, busting a high pressure water line, and then left the scene of the accident.
Sheriff deputies reportedly caught up to her two miles away. Svetlana told TMZ she only had one glass of wine before driving, and she believed she passed the field sobriety tests, but TMZ was told she was booked for DUI in addition to hit-and-run. They added that the case has already been sent to the district attorney’s office.
Russian-born Svetlana is Richard's third wife; they were married in 2006. He has three children with his first wife. Richard, now 66, admitted he drank and did a lot of drugs through the 1970s, but he's been sober since 1982, after a fateful car accident. At the time, he was arrested for possession of cocaine and Percodan and underwent rehab in lieu of a trial.
Thankfully no one was hurt in Svetlana’s accident, but it’s just another example of why you shouldn’t drive after ingesting anything that will make you an even worse driver than you may already be when sober.
