Update (3:47 p.m. PST, May 12, 2014):
Sherri has now filed her own divorce proceedings from husband Lamar Sally, reports TMZ. She filed in New Jersey, claims irreconcilable differences, and reportedly makes no mention of Lamar’s own documents in her papers.
Update (5:01 p.m. PST, May 9, 2014):
Divorce news is rarely nice news but Sherri’s might take the cake. TMZ reports Sherri's husband, Lamar Sally, wants custody of the couple’s unborn child but, here’s the kicker, Sherri’s not pregnant. The couple have a surrogate who is due on July 28.
Legal docs obtained by TMZ say Lamar wants "full legal and physical custody" of the child with Sherri receiving just visitation rights. Even more: He wants spousal support and their prenup agreement invalidated based on grounds of fraud. Ouch, ouch, and more ouch.
Original story (2:27 p.m. PST, May 9, 2014):
Say it isn’t so! There were a few whispers that The View host and actress/comedienne Sherri Shepherd and her husband, Lamar Sally, were on the rocks and headed towards separation. And guys, it appears that those whispers just might have some truth to it.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Sherri’s husband filed divorce papers on May 2. The couple’s August 13, 2011, nuptials were televised a month after the ceremony on a Style Network special. They had no children together.
Documents say that Sally, a television writer and producer, will be represented by Mark Vincent Kaplan, the same lawyer who famously represented Kevin Federline in his divorce from pop megastar Britney Spears.
If the divorce goes through, this will be Sherri’s second divorce, after splitting from her first husband of eight years, Jeff Tarpley, in 2001. She and Jeff, who share a son, called it quits when Sherri learned that he was having an affair.
No word on what the cause is for this divorce, but we hope these two can work things out amicably.
