It's been over for a while for David Duchovny and Tea Leoni, but now it's legally over.
According to TMZ, David filed divorce papers back in June, citing an irretrievable breakdown of the relationship. David, 54, and Tea, 48, were married in 1997 and have two children together: Madelaine West, born in 1999, and Kyd Miller, born in 2002. The couple briefly split in 2007, then The X-Files star entered rehab for sex addiction. The pair reunited, but then announced their separation in 2011.
However, they stayed married, until now.
The divorce papers reportedly give the couple joint legal custody of their kids, although Tea will have primary physical custody. David will pay $8,333 a month in child support and $40,000 a month in spousal support. (Side note: Cha-ching on that spousal support!)
David just spent seven seasons on Showtime's Californication, and he’ll soon be seen on the NBC show Aquarius. Tea now has her own show, too, the new CBS series Madam Secretary.
It's always sad to hear about the end of a marriage, even if this one has apparently been over for some time. That said … is it wrong to hope this means Mulder and Scully can now be together? IT'S DESTINY, PEOPLE.
