We know, we know. Answering the question “Why did Robin Thicke and Paula Patton separate?” is like opening Pandora’s box: You have no idea what twerking horrors might jump out. But turns out there might be a reason that doesn’t rhyme with Ciley Myrus explaining why Robin and Paula have decided to separate.
The people over at People suggest parenthood put a strain on the couple’s more than 20-year-long relationship. “Signs of trouble in their marriage may have started as early as 2010, when the couple welcomed their first child,” the magazine writes.
While we’re a little less quick to blame a 3-year-old for the dissolution of a marriage, we see People’s point. Robin previously admitted having a young child proved difficult for him and Robin.
“It was hard when we became parents, because we had to balance our careers with this new person in our lives,” he told People back in 2011. However, he was sure to add that, after the initial stress of a newborn, “we hit our rhythm and we are more in love and supportive than ever.”
Of course, a lot has changed since then and we think Robin’s frequent, um, “close calls” with various ladies about town might have more to do with the breakup than the needs of an almost 4-year-old.
