We aren't the only ones who are completely shocked and devastated by the news that Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his NYC apartment on February 2. Some of Hollywood's biggest stars are sharing their grief about the news on Twitter.
The cause of death is still unknown for Philip, who was 46. According to the police report, a needle was found sticking out of his arm. In May 2013, he had checked himself into a 10-day drug detox program after admitting to snorting heroin.
Philip is best known for playing Truman Capote in 2005's biopic Capote, which earned Philip an Oscar Award for Best Actor. He has been nominated for an Oscar three other times, for Charlie Wilson's War, Doubt, and The Master. He also plays Plutarch in the Hunger Games series.
Philip was in a longtime relationship with costume designer Mimi O'Donnell, with whom he has three children, none of which are in their teens yet.
One star without Twitter is George Clooney, who has released the following statement through his publicist: "There are no words. It’s just terrible."
Here is what the rest of Hollywood has to say about this tragic news. Our thoughts are with Philip's loved ones, and especially his children, during this awful time.
