If you watched much TV or many movies in the past few decades, you almost certainly will recognize veteran character actor James Rebhorn from something, particularly his recent role on the Showtime hit Homeland. Sadly, James has passed away at age 65.
James died in his New Jersey home on March 21, according to the Hollywood Reporter. TMZ reports that James succumbed to skin cancer after having battling the disease since 1992. His condition had reportedly taken a turn for the worse recently, and he had been receiving hospice care at home. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca.
James might be best known for his recurring role as Carrie's father Frank on Homeland. But he has had countless memorable TV roles, including recurring parts on White Collar, Law & Order, Enlightened, and 30 Rock. Seinfeld fans will remember him as the D.A. who gets the four main characters sent to jail in the series finale.
He has also appeared in numerous films, like Meet the Parents, Independence Day, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and The Odd Life of Timothy Green. He has a lengthy theatre resume as well.
Our thoughts are with James's family and loved ones during this very difficult time. Thanks for all the great performances, James.
