After he passed away on June 15, Casey Kasem’s closest friends and family came together Saturday to remember him and the incredible life he led at a private memorial service in California.

According to People, 200 people attended Casey’s memorial service at the Bel Air Presbyterian Church, which Casey’s daughter, Julie Kasem, described as “a heartwarming celebration of my dad’s life.” Casey’s three children from his first marriage, his brother, and some close friends all gave speeches about the legendary DJ.

The Wrap also adds that many of Casey’s former radio colleagues were also in attendance, and that the service ended with a video made by Casey’s son, Mike, remembering his life and career.

Casey’s second wife, Jean, did not attend the service — and neither did Liberty, the daughter she had with Casey. In the weeks leading up to Casey’s death, Jean was at the forefront of a feud with Casey’s children over his care after she moved him to a Washington state facility without their consent.

“To have all of his family, friends, and coworkers come together to remember and pay tribute to him was beautiful,” Julie said.

Casey may be gone, but he’s certainly not forgotten. After 40 years in radio and doing voice work, he’s left a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.
