As much as we love the internet for giving us endless cute cat memes, it has its dark side. We mean, of course, those exploiters of online anonymity — aka trolls — who’ve made Robin Williams’s daughter Zelda their latest target.

As if Zelda and her family don’t have enough to deal with following the suicide of their beloved Robin, internet haters have flooded Zelda’s social media accounts with disgusting and horrifying posts about her father’s death.

The night of August 12, Zelda reportedly tweeted and then deleted about two such attackers: “Please report @PimpStory @MrGoosebuster. I’m shaking. I can’t. Please. Twitter requires a link and I won’t open it. Don’t either. Please.” Both accounts have since been suspended, adds Gawker.

Shortly after, Zelda made the announcement she’ll be staying off both her Twitter and Instagram accounts for the immediate future. The news came just hours after she shared a heartbreaking message via her Tumblr about her dad’s death.

Announcing her departure from Twitter, Zelda wrote: “I’m sorry. I should’ve risen above. Deleting this from my devices for a good long time, maybe forever. Time will tell. Goodbye.”

She further explained on her Instagram account. “I will be leaving this account for a [bit] while I heal and decide if I’ll be deleting it or not,” she wrote, mentioning the “cruel and unnecessary” behavior of some online. “Thank you for your respect and understanding in this difficult time. Goodbye. Xo,” she concluded.

Our thoughts are with Zelda and the rest of her family during this difficult time.
