2014 Celebrity Deaths
We're not even halfway through 2014, and already we've lost some beloved celebrities, both young and old.
As with 2013, when we lost Glee's Cory Monteith, Fast and Furious actor Paul Walker, and many others, those who leave us in 2014 will live on through their contributions to the world. Those who left us this year include legendary child actress Shirley Temple, and Mae Young, who helped shape what professional wrestling is today. Russell Johnson, who helped make Gilligan's Island an essential part of the cultural canon, and groundbreaking folk musician Pete Seeger are also among the losses from this year.
Most recently, we lost legendary poet Maya Angelou at age 86. Other recent departures include media prodigy Peaches Geldof at just 25 years old, and legendary actor Mickey Rooney, who lived a full 93 years before his death of natural causes.
Let’s take a moment to remember who we’ve lost this year — those who are gone, but not forgotten. And remember to hug your loved ones.
