Country singer Kevin Sharp died this weekend. Family, friends, and fans of the artist said their goodbyes on Saturday, April 19. Kevin was 43.

Best known for his 1997 cover of R&B song “Nobody Knows,” Kevin battled cancer for most of his life. According to his website, he passed away from complications from previous stomach surgeries and digestive issues at 10 p.m. on April 19.

As a teenager, Kevin was diagnosed with and eventually survived a rare bone cancer called Ewing’s sarcoma. The years of radiation and chemotherapy in the early 1990s led to him permanently losing all of his hair.

Beside his music career, which saw several other hits in addition to “Nobody Knows” and a debut platinum country album, Kevin was an author and motivational speaker. He served as a spokesperson for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and titled his third and final album Make a Wish, released in 2005.

A memorial will be held in Kevin’s honor in Nashville, Tennessee. Kevin’s loved ones ask all donations made in his honor be sent to Make-A-Wish so “that wishes can continue to be granted for other children.”

Our thoughts are with Kevin’s family and friends during this difficult time.
