Since Chelsea Handler first announced her split with E!, we were worried about where she might find a new home. How could we live without her snarky celeb interviews and hilarious round table discussions? More importantly, what would we do without Chuy?! But our fears are now irrelevant. Chelsea’s signed a deal with our favorite TV “network” of all time: Netflix.
Yes, the rumors are true! Starting in 2016, we can officially flip back and forth between Orange is The New Black and Chelsea Handler ‘til our hearts are content.
According to USA Today, Chelsea has signed a deal with Netflix that will give us several new stand-up specials and a new talk show that will provide us with “Chelsea’s unfiltered opinions on topical entertainment and cultural issues, as well as her signature guest interviews.” Sign us up!
“If I was going to continue working in this industry, I knew I had to do something outside the box to keep myself interested,” Chelsea said in a statement. "I wanted to sit with the cool kids at lunch so I approached Netflix to make sure they were as cool as I thought they were, and when I confirmed my suspicions, like with any other future lover, I made my move.
“I'm more excited than I've been in awhile, and the team at Netflix is the most forward thinking, alert group I've sat down with in ages,” she added. “No offense to the Shahs of Sunset."
So how will we watch Chelsea in action once she’s finally made the move? We’re hoping new episodes will show up daily, and those of us who like going to bed before eleven will get to watch them every morning with our coffee instead. It’s an even more exciting prospect when you think about how this could possibly change talk shows forever. We’re living in the future, guys! All we need is a hover car.
Chelsea’s first Netflix stand-up special goes live in October. Can’t wait!
