For all his hard work and dedication in trying to get his estranged wife back, Robin Thicke doesn’t seem to be making any headway with Paula Patton. Song dedications didn’t work, public apologies didn’t work, and now, it sounds like his latest attempt — naming his next album “Paula” in her honor — isn’t making her change her mind, either.
This week, Robin sat down with radio station Hot 97 and spilled the details of his reconciliation (or lack thereof) with Paula… and since it’s been such a long time since they’ve seen each other, it doesn’t sound like Robin’s going to get what he wants.
“I haven’t seen her for four months,” Robin admitted on the air. “We’re cool … Maybe a year or two off, we’ll become our own people without each other and then it will be meant to be.”
Don’t get him wrong — this doesn’t mean he’s decided to give up entirely. Plans for the album are full speed ahead, and Robin intends it to be a way for him to apologize and take responsibility for what he’s done wrong. Even though he has hope they’ll be back together eventually, he can’t deny he played a big part in their separation.
“I’m a man. I messed up and I had to lie for awhile, and then I stopped lying,” the 37-year-old “Blurred Lines” singer said. “That was actually good for me because I was tired of lying. This whole album is me revealing everything.”
Meanwhile, there's not much hope left that Paula’s going to budge anytime soon.
“I don’t think she wants to hear [the album] right now,” Robin said. “I can’t speak for her, but I think space is an important part of any healing process.”
Robin, if we may be so bold as to offer you some relationship advice? Stick to your word and give it a break. If it’s meant to be, Paula will come back to you. If it’s not meant to be… you’ll probably still be able to celebrate awesome album sales. There’s always a silver lining, right?
