Original story (November 5, 2013):
Tom Cruise just filed papers in the latest stage of his $50 million lawsuit, a legal process the A-list actor first started last year.
In the suit, Tom is taking on the publishers of Life & Style and In Touch magazines for their stories claiming the 51-year-old actor “abandoned” his seven-year-old daughter in the wake of his divorce from wife Katie Holmes.
“I have in no way cut Suri out of my life — whether physically, emotionally, financially, or otherwise,” Tom claims in the court documents, as reported by TMZ.
Tom lists specific times he has seen Suri since his July 2012 split from Katie.
“Even during the times when I was working overseas and was not able to see Suri in person, we were (and continue to be) extremely close,” he writes. One way he stayed in touch was via email, with his numerous messages with “Suri’s mother” proving “I was a constant presence in Suri’s life.”
The actor, who is also father to 18-year-old Connor and 20-year-old Isabella, adds: “While I’m sure my daughter misses me when I am not with her (as I miss her), she is a very happy child, and we have a wonderful relationship and cheerful phone calls.”
Details to come on the status of Tom’s lawsuit as they develop.
