Pregnant women have to deal with a lot of really weird behavior from the people around them — like the whole strangers rubbing their belly thing? What’s that about?

And Olivia Wilde, who is expecting her first baby with fiance Jason Sudeikis, isn’t immune to this phenomenon — especially when it comes to people going out of their way to make sure they don’t say anything offensive to her while she’s with child.

Despite the fact that she’s not keeping her pregnancy a secret, people who Olivia’s encountered recently are trying really, really hard to act like her pregnancy is news to them.

“That’s the worst thing in the world — when you congratulate a non-pregnant woman on her pregnancy,” Olivia rationalized during her recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. “Even when you are clearly — like, I feel like I'm clearly pregnant — people will be like, 'Hey, would you like a glass of whiskey? Would you like to get on this roller coaster?' And I go, 'Oh, well, I'm actually pregnant.' And they go, 'What?!' Unless someone's watching you give birth, I don't think they want to make the wrong call."

And if Olivia and Jason know if they’re having a boy or a girl, they aren’t ready to share the news just yet.

“It’s human,” Olivia confirmed. “We feel good about that.”
