Fashion designer Korto Momolu is Project Runway’s perpetual runner-up, but in real life she won the baby jackpot!
Korto was first runner-up to Leanne Marshall on Project Runway Season 5. She was also runner-up to Daniel Vosovic during the All Star Challenge. She was most recently runner-up once again during Project Runway: All Stars Season 3, which was won by now two-time winner Seth Aaron Henderson.
Korto and her fans were disappointed to see her get so close again without success, but during the January 2014 All Stars reunion special, Korto revealed some good news: Right when she got back home from taping All Stars, she got pregnant with her second child! She and her husband are now expecting their first boy, a little brother for their 9-year-old daughter, Alyse.
“As much as I prayed to win Project Runway All Stars, I’d also been praying for another child for the past 10 years and as soon as I came home from taping found out I was expecting,” Korto told AlwaysAList.com. “I wouldn’t trade one for the other if I had a choice! I’m so grateful and thankful as I expect my first boy child baby Cameron in April!”
Congrats! Of course, she’s still working hard on the professional front. You can still purchase the 38-year-old designer’s challenge-winning QVC dress, and support her GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for her next collection. Her goal is to raise $50,000, so head here if you can help.
And she could always return for another round of Project Runway designs. We love seeing her in action, even if the judges can’t seem to get her past second place. But maybe two is her lucky number.
Congrats to Korto on her growing family! Cameron is going to be one sharp-dressed young man.
