Think diapers are babyproof? Think again. Back when Jessica Alba’s daughter Honor was still just a baby, the now-5-year-old ate part of her diaper. Now, disposable diapers clearly aren’t made to be eaten... and Jess was more than a bit worried for Honor’s health.

"My kid's diaper exploded. All of a sudden, these beads were in her mouth," she told Us Weekly. "And I was calling my mom, and I was like, 'What happened? What do I do? What is this made out of?' I called my pediatrician. I called 911. I completely freaked out."

Jess even went so far as to call the diaper company, but she didn’t feel comforted by their help. The manufacturer asked Jessica to have her doctor send over a list of everything Honor was allergic to, but Jess didn’t want to expose her daughter to a bunch of chemicals in order to conduct the test.

Honor ended up being fine, but the experience prompted Jessica to search for eco-friendly diapers and baby products. When she couldn’t find any that she thought were both effective and affordable, the 32-year-old actress decided to take matters into her own hands and make her own.

The Honest Company, Jessica’s line of eco-friendly products, has now been around for over two years. So even if her younger daughter, Haven, 2, tries putting weird things in her mouth, Jess can rest assured that little diaper beads won’t be among them.
