There’s little doubt in our minds: Tamera Mowry is mom to one of the cutest little kids on the planet. The former Sister, Sister star welcomed her son Aden in November 2012, which means the tiny tot celebrated his first birthday just a few months ago.
In an new interview with Essence, Tamera opens up about how her life has changed since she became a mom. “I have had some of the most blissful days as well as some challenging,” she says.
It’s easy to tell the blissful parts. It just takes one look into Aden’s big gray eyes, or one glimpse of those sandy curls. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to that adorable face in the morning?
Still, being a mom means putting yourself second and reorganizing your entire life so you can take care of someone else. That’s not alway easy. “I have been lucky to have friends be honest with me from the beginning, including my sister,” Tamera says. “For example, how long it was going to take to feel like yourself again. I didn’t realize it would take as long as it did. (Her sister, Tia, has a son, Cree, 2.)
The Talk co-host says she had to learn to embrace her new body. “Some people are blessed to bounce back and some people have to adjust to their new self. You have to accept that change and lose yourself in it.”
These days, Tamera says she’s feeling pretty well adjusted to it all. “Now that’s he’s 15 months [old], I can balance my focus and spend a little more time on myself,” she says. “It feels good to see a little of your sexy self back.”
