Angelina Jolie may be mom to six mini Jolie-Pitts, but when she was younger, she never imagined she’d have any kids at all. Surprising, coming from someone who’s embraced motherhood so wholeheartedly that she’s practically raising her own baseball team, right? But before she became the award winning actress she is today, she thought some things in life just weren’t in the cards for her.
“I never thought I’d have children, I never thought I’d be in love, I never thought I’d meet the right person,” Angelina revealed to Elle during her interview for the magazine’s June 2014 cover. “Having come from a broken home — you kind of accept that certain things feel like a fairytale, and you just don’t look for them.”
How the tables have turned! If anyone’s living a fairytale now, it’s Angelina — she’s in the midst of an explosive acting career, married to a guy who many would agree is one of the most attractive, attentive men on earth, and she has an entire gaggle of kids at home who love her. Lucky Angie!
And once she’d made it through her “rebellious” twenties, Angelina began to embrace the good things in her life and was ready to take risks — and the driving force behind those risks? Fear of “a life half-lived.”
“A life where you don’t live to your full potential, or you don’t experiment, or you’re afraid, or you hesitate, or there are things you know you should do but you just don’t get around to them, is a life that I’d be miserable living,” the Maleficent actress said. “The only way to feel that I’m on the right path is just to be true to myself, whatever that may be.”
