We all have 21 questions for 50 Cent — otherwise know as Curtis Jackson — and one of them is about his relationship with his two boys. When the rapper was just 21 years old — before he broke out in 2003 with Get Rich or Die Tryin’ — he had fathered a son, Marquise, with then-girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins.
Fast-forward to 2012, he and Shaniqua split and 50 welcomed a second son, Sire Jackson, with another woman, and since then, it’s all been baby mama drama for the rapper. In fact, the 38-year-old doesn’t have the best relationship with Marquise, which brings us to the saga that is Fiddy and his eldest son.
In a recent candid interview with GQ magazine, the rapper opened up about his torn relationship with Marquise, 17, and you guys, it’s pretty touch and go. “Me and my son, we don't have a relationship anymore," 50 Cent tells GQ. "It's based on his mom. He's adopted her way of thinking."
Fiddy and Marquise’s mother — who has appeared on TLC’s reality show Starter Wives — don’t get along well either. Aside from Shaniqua’s accusations that 50 refuses to see Marquise (he apparently hasn’t seen his son in over two years), the former couple have been going head to head for years now.
Back in 2008, the former couple were spotted on a New York City street fighting, just days before her house was mysteriously burned down. According to Shaniqua, she claimed that someone broke into her house before the fire, and that it was an assassination attempt on behalf of 50 Cent.
Just this past year, 50 alleged that Shaniqua was unfaithful to him during their relationship, He even demanded that she take a paternity test to prove that he was really Marquise’s father. So much drama!
But despite the rift between Fiddy and Marquise, the rapper tells GQ that he has been keen on making all his wrongs right with his second son, Sire. "I don't have anything negative around the concept of kids," 50 Cent adds. From the sounds of things, Fiddy deserves a “#1 Dad” mug already.
