Set aside all the speculation that Hillary Clinton will be making a run for President in 2016, and let’s focus on the new title we know she’ll have for sure within the next handful of months: grandma!
Hillary’s only child, 34-year-old Chelsea, announced her first pregnancy news back in mid-April and it sounds like both of her high-powered parents couldn’t be more thrilled with the news. Hillary recently invited People magazine into her home for the first time since husband Bill ended his time as POTUS in January 2001, and the D.C. titan was uncharacteristically candid about her personal life.
We won’t go so far as to claim Hillary would veto a presidential campaign because of a new baby — would the question even come up if it was a grandfather-to-be we were talking about? — but she does say her new role is on her mind.
“I know I have a decision to make,” she tells the magazine, “but part of what I’ve been thinking about is everything I’m interested in and everything I enjoy doing — and with the extra added joy of ‘I’m about to become a grandmother,’ I want to live in the moment. At the same time I am concerned about what I see happening in the country and in the world.”
Since stepping down as Secretary of State last year, Hillary says she’s enjoyed the simpler things in life including TV. She and Bill “totally binge-watched” the first season of House of Cards, a viewing choice on par with Barack Obama winding down to Homeland. But, you know, to each his own.
