When it comes to Katie Holmes, one might think that her breakout role in Dawson’s Creek was a moment that completely altered her life. Or that time she married her now ex-husband, Tom Cruise, in 2006. But that’s not it. It turns out that the singular moment was when she gave birth to daughter, Suri Cruise.

"Motherhood is the greatest gift. When I became a mother, my life completely changed,"

Katie tells Glamour magazine in the August issue. In fact, Katie’s life has been undergoing a lot of change lately. Just two years ago, the starlet filed for divorce from Tom and started a new life as a single mother in New York City.

But the biggest change thanks to motherhood? Aside from watching too much of Disney’s Frozen, Katie says, “I think you don’t know — I didn’t know how much love I had in me.  It’s overwhelming. Every day I discover more about this spectacular human being I get to be the mother of.”

And that type of mother is not only a doting one, but one who knows the key to her daughter’s heart is through her stomach. “Plain pasta with butter is a hit,” Katie reveals. “Chocolate-chip pancakes are a hit — together with chocolate-chip cookies. I do a homemade chicken finger. That’s a hit.”

Sounds like being a single mom is suiting Katie just fine, thank you very much. As for jumping back in the dating pool, don’t expect to read about her escapades in the tabloids anytime soon. "I am really focused on motherhood and work right now," Katie says.

When you have a budding fashion icon as a daughter — who also inspired the infamous “Burn Book” Tumblr — who has time for dating anyway?
