Being the offspring of a celebrity might sound amazing — two words: trust fund — but there are some serious downsides to being born into fame. The biggest? Missing out on the little things that make up many a typical childhood, and we don’t just mean having your dad fret about drones electrifying you in your backyard pool.
Take for example Gwyneth Paltrow, who only recently allowed her two children, Apple, 10, and Moses, 8, to take the school bus to class.
Rolling your eyes and chalking this up to another Goop-ism you’ll never understand? While we agree that all things kale confuse us too, Gwyneth does have a point. Being the children of an Academy Award-winning actress and one of music’s biggest frontman puts Apple and Moses in a different realm security-wise.
So what inspired the change in transportation? Sounds like Mama Gwen decided her little ones were old enough for a little freedom and normalcy. Recounting her children’s first day of school for 2014, Gwyneth tells late-night host Jimmy Kimmel this is their first time taking the school bus.
“They take the bus,” she explains, “and then I pick them up at the bus stop. It’s pretty cute. They feel very independent.” We say she earns an A+!
