Running into an ex is never fun but running into an ex at the White House Correspondents Dinner? That’s awkward taken to a national level. Amid all her A-list canoodling this weekend at the invitation of the President and First Lady, Jessica Simpson had to play a little defense as she avoided ex Tony Romo.
The two, you’ll recall, began dating after Jessica’s split from hubby Nick Lachey. Tony’s poor performance on the football field during their nearly two year relationship led to snide remarks from even the highest officials in the U.S. Remember when President George W. Bush said he wanted to send “Jessica Simpson to the Democratic National Convention” to see if she’d be as good a jinx there? Ahh, memories.
Maybe it was out of superstition, but Tony and Jessica made sure to avoid one another during this year’s White House dinner. They were there on the arms of their respective significant others, wife Candice Crawford for Tony and fiancé Eric Johnson for Jessica. Neither couple brought along their cute kids, and based on the chilly reception they paid one another, we doubt Jessica and Tony will be coordinating playdates anytime soon.
