Tony Parker is a father! The 31-year-old and his fiancée, Axelle Francine, welcomed their son, Josh, on April 30. Just hours after the delivery, the San Antonio Spurs point guard went on to help his team win a playoff game against the Dallas Mavericks — all while playing with a sprained ankle. All in a day’s work, we guess!
A Spurs spokesperson confirmed the happy news on the team’s website: “Parker has apparently barely slept, if at all, leading up to tonight’s game...Parker had been a game-time decision with a Grade I ankle sprain suffered in the Spurs’ Game 4 victory over Dallas on Monday.” Is it too soon to call him Super-Dad?
So how is the new papa doing? According to his teammate, Spurs forward Tim Duncan, he’s as excited as any father would be. “He was really excited before the game,” Duncan said to USA Today. “Obviously, he was really excited to have his son here and wanted to get this game really badly, not only for his son but for the situation and the timing of it.”
This is the first child for both Tony and Axelle, who announced the pregnancy news back in October. “Hey just wanted to say that I’m very happy today … me and my future wife going to have a baby boy!!!!” Parker tweeted.
Tony met his future wife, who is a French journalist, in early 2012, just one year after his divorce from former Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria was finalized. Tony and Eva did not have any children together.
Congratulations to the new family of three!
