Every mother remembers the first time she learns she’s pregnant. In the case of Lake Bell, she will certainly never forget it — especially since she posed topless for the cover of Esquire on that very day. The 35-year-old actress told TV host Jimmy Kimmel all about it — including how many pee-sticks she used!

“[The cover] is super cool actually, this day before I went to go shoot this, I peed on a stick and found out I was pregnant,” Lake explains during her visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live. “So in my eyes, I’m like, ‘Holy s—t.’ It was profound.”

What a way to memorialize such a life-changing day! Lake also admits just how many tests she took before finally believing she and artist husband Scott Campbell were actually expecting their first child.

“My husband bought all of the different types of varieties of stick-peeing mechanisms,” Lake says. “I peed on one — and it’s a digital one — and it just said, ‘Pregnant.’ And we looked at it and were like, ‘Those are digital. I don’t trust technology. Let’s get the old school one.’ I mean we peed on so many sticks. There were so many sticks.”

Just a few months after that exciting day, Lake finally let everyone in on her little secret when she debuted her growing baby bump at the Vanity Fair party. We have to admit, we were in complete shock over the exciting news, but it turns out Lake was actually relieved with her Beyoncé-esque reveal.

“I think you start to get overwhelmed, and you can overthink it,” Lake recently told People. “I was just sick and tired of hiding it.” We’re so glad Lake is out and about flaunting her baby bump because who doesn’t love seeing a glowing momma dress up her belly?
