Update (July 2, 2014):

Shia’s rep has spoken! As it turns out, the former Transformers star isn’t in rehab, but is instead receiving outside treatment for alcoholism.

“Contrary to previous erroneous reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction,” his rep said, according to People. “He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps toward recovery.”

Good for Shia for getting the help he needs. We wish him a speedy recovery!

Original story (June 30, 2014):

Last week’s drunken misadventures in New York City might have been the final straw for Shia LaBeouf. RadarOnline.com reports the former Disney star has checked into rehab following his arrest for “disruptive behavior” outside a New York City theater.

With intel from x17Online, RadarOnline.com claims the 28-year-old actor was spotted back in Los Angeles, toting around a blue Alcoholics Anonymous book. Soon after those photos of Shia carrying what AA members refer to as “The Big Book” surfaced, rumors began spreading he’d checked into a rehab facility.

x17Online says their folks followed Shia from his Hollywood Hills home to the gates of a “celebrity-frequented treatment facility in Hollywood” (so any of them?) where a nurse and a security guard greeted him at the front.

“Shia was nervous,” said a x17Online photographer on the story. “He didn’t look good all morning. He was looking down and wasn’t even talking to his driver. It looked like he didn’t want to do it, but he knew he had to.”

After the Big Apple outburst that led to his arrest outside Cabaret, he’s obviously got some things a little 1-on-1 might help address. Take care of yourself, Shia!
