Are A-list couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones getting back together just in time for the new year? A new photo shows the estranged pair out with their two children during a recent family outing on December 22 in New York City.

The couple, who were married in 2000, haven’t been seen out together since the summer, according to an Us Weekly report. They’re both wearing their wedding bands in this recent picture, adds Us. Of course, we’ve already heard that their separation, announced back in August, might not mean the end for the Hollywood power couple.

“Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the end. I’m very hopeful,” the 69-year-old actor told Jay Leno on air in October.

Pictured with 13-year-old Dylan and 10-year-old Carys, Michael and Catherine don’t look particularly lovey-dovey in the photo but who really does walking down the street?

So could this mean a happy reunion for the couple come 2014? After the past few years they’ve had with Michael revealing he battled cancer in 2010 and Catherine seeking treatment for bipolar disorder, maybe a little break is all they needed.

What do you think? Have they made it through a rough patch or just got together for the kids?
