Kelly Osbourne and chef Matthew Mosshart recently ended their engagement after two years together. When they announced the split on January 8, Kelly’s rep requested “privacy, decorum and space” from the media.
But the very next day, both Kelly and her mother Sharon were discussing the split.
"I can't talk for my daughter, [but] Matthew is a lovely guy," Sharon told The Talk audience on January 9 (via Us Weekly). "They had two great years together of fun and love and to me, that's why engagements are so important."
She added, "Engagements are a test run, aren't they? And so it didn't work for whatever reason but they are still good friends and will continue to be. It's just not right for them right now. So -- let the auditions begin!"
Fashion Police star Kelly, 29, talked to E! News’ Giuliana Rancic about the split for a January 9 exclusive interview. "It was a mutual decision,” Kelly said. “We love each other very much. It just wasn't the right time for us, and I think if we weren't as mature and adult than we are, then we could have gone down a road that wasn't really nice. We're still really, really good friends; it's just we're not living in the same house.”
It’s better to know something isn’t right before getting married than after, but do you agree with Sharon that engagements are test runs? Depending on the rings, those could be some seriously expensive test runs!
