You know how traditional wedding vows go: for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, in good times and… booing? Blake Lively got a crash course in supportive spouse 101 when her hubby Ryan Reynolds got an unexpectedly unfriendly reception at the Cannes film festival.

Ryan was on hand in France for the premiere of his new movie, The Captive, on May 16 but the screening didn’t go as expected — despite how amazing Blake’s been lookin'. The movie’s not getting great reviews (Variety called it “ludicrous”). To rub salt in the wound, the Green Lantern actor was actually booed by the audience during the screening in Cannes!

After such a negative response, Ryan and Blake wanted to go home to cry keep a low profile after the premiere, so instead of attending the scheduled after party, they opted for a “low-key late-night snack,” a source tells Us Weekly.

“[It] looked like Blake was trying to cheer him up a few times … she rubbed his arm like she was consoling him and kept whispering in his ear,” the source adds. “At one point, Ryan smiled … and leaned into her for a kiss on the lips.”

We totally get Ryan was probably embarrassed and wanted the one-on-one attention of his beloved, but we feel kind of bad for the rest of The Captive cast, who opted to attend the after-party like planned. We’re sure they could have used a little Blake TLC, too.
