Anyone expecting Amber Heard and Johnny Depp to have a quiet engagement followed by a quick Vegas wedding just lost that bet.
The pair confirmed their engagement in January and just celebrated with a big engagement party on March 14 at the Carondelet House in downtown L.A. According to People, about 100 friends and family received black invitations reading "A & J" and entered the 1920s space through a big black tent with a red velvet entryway. (Check out a photo here.) Amber, 27, and Johnny, 50, arrived around 8 p.m., People said, along with Amber's sister, Whitney, and Johnny's son, Jack, 11.
It was a star-studded shindig, with guests including Jerry Bruckheimer, Marilyn Manson, Rick Ruben, Ryan Adams, Mandy Moore and Steven Tyler. (Watch Steven discuss the party in the video below.) According to TMZ, which posted paparazzi videos from outside the venue, there was a ton of food at the event, including plenty of vegan options for Amber.
Johnny and Amber met on the set of their 2011 movie The Rum Diary. After his split with his longtime girlfriend (and mother of his two kids) Vanessa Paradis, he and Amber became a couple, first stepping out in 2012. This will be his second marriage and her first.
Congrats to the happy couple ... or are you shaking your head at this union?
