Talk about making lemonade out of lemons! Or, you know, comedic gold out of an awkward video still that doesn’t really show all that much. Tina Fey hasn’t shied away from talking about her Emmy night “nip slip” and, not surprisingly, the results have been hilarious.
First, Tina made light of the wardrobe malfunction during her promos for the season premiere of Saturday Night Live, which she’s hosting this Saturday (September 28). Then, she took to late night TV and joked about the matter with fellow SNL alum Jimmy Fallon.
“I guess there was a little momentary situation. I don’t think it’s that bad,” she says. “I brought a picture. We can evaluate as a group.”
“Can we show it on our show?” Jimmy asks.
“Yeah, it’s safe for work,” Tina says. “It’s not that bad.”
And it’s not, if you don’t mind a lot of nipple. Dog nipple, that is. The photo shows the underside of a friend’s female dog. The only thing that could make this better: if the dog was in a dress.
Even more funny than the photo, though, is Tina explaining who told her she’d nip-slipped. “Here’s what happened. I had a great time at the Emmys, won the last Emmy ever for 30 Rock, and I’m leaving the next day in a good mood and I call my parents to say like, ‘I’m getting on the plane,’ figured they’d be excited to talk to me,” she tells Jimmy. “The moment I get on the phone my mom says ‘I’m reading about your nip slip.’”
Turns out Tina’s mom has a Google Alert for her daughter (our moms would do the same if we were famous) and so ended up breaking the news to her daughter. Awkward? Sure. Hilarious? Most definitely.
